Long ago, the realm of Kottorim was a peaceful land ruled by a kind and gentle king. One day, as if out of the shadows themselves, Saibere Ruinfall emerged and mercilessly overthrew the kingdom. He established the Onyx Sanctum, an empire built on destruction and devastation that decimated Kottorim and left many cowering in fear from the name alone.

Unelda, the empire seer, foresaw an event that would bring calamity to the Onyx Sanctum: a being would be born whose immense power would overthrow the emperor. Desperate, Saibere sought out and annihilated all babies born on the day of the vision - all except one, who proved indestructible. With no other option, he split the baby into two separate beings; keeping one close to him and abandoning the other to the forces of nature, hoping that something, anything, would keep the two from meeting once more.

However; he completely misinterpreted the seer’s prophecy. For as the baby he raised grew into a strong, resilient soldier, so too did his conviction. And, as prophesied, he put an end to Saibere Ruinfall.

This was no celebration. Sylas’ maniacal nature spelled even greater impoverishment for Kottorim, and the land fell into an obscured nightmare regime.
